Light can't be inserted

Very disappointed. The post for the light that needs to be inserted into the pole will not go in so it will have to be hand-held. This is a real problem because I do facials so I have to have my hands free. They will not allow me to return it for a refund because I ordered it at the end of August. I wasn't using the light until now.
